Two medical systems, one treatment strategy
In China, Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern medicine are not automatically regarded as two separate worlds. Imaging, laboratory diagnostics, surgery and medication provide information and treatment options that TCM cannot replace. TCM additionally considers the overall pattern of symptoms, constitution, capacity for recovery, nutrition, movement and changes that develop over time.
The Chinese approach is therefore practical: use from both systems what offers the patient the greatest value at that moment. Looking further when one approach is not enough
Modern medicine is exceptionally strong in acute care, diagnostics, surgery, infection control and targeted pharmacological treatment. But not every patient is symptom-free after diagnosis or treatment. Chronic complaints, prolonged recovery, recurring symptoms, functional problems and quality of life sometimes require more than one medical approach.
